So you believe star citizen is the game for you, you are correct. Star Citizen might be the game to beat all other pc games.
Getting started in Star Citizen is far from easy, you’re looking at many ships at all different price ranges. We’re going to talk about all the starting ships why they are good, why they are bad and what they can become. The goal here is to give you a good idea of which ship you should buy without making it too confusing, I am not the person to tell you one ship is better then the other every ship has it’s own benefits.
The Aurora MR, designed by Robertsspaceindustries. Chris Roberts created a ship manufacturer in the game named after himself, these ships have all a similar look entirely unique compared to the others in the game. The Aurora is the started ship of them all, one of the first to be released. The Aurora MR is flown by 1 pilot and has a bed to sleep on the job. The idea behind this ship is to offer any starter pilot to have a small hauler to earn some money with. The Aurora is outfitted with two fixed laster cannons and some missles, to defend itself versus pirates or vanduul.
The Aurora Commercial gives a clear view of what is possible with any ship, you can upgrade them. Purchase weapons with a currency called REC and expand your ship in your Hangar, REC is earned through playing the Arena Commander in any of it’s modes.
The Aurora MR is designed to be a trader / hauler ship to start your way in the universe to earn some money. All of the Robertsspaceindustries ships are marked as jack-of-all-trades, ships which are capable of everything perfect at nothing. They are the ideal way to start off the game without having to worry about anything, you can do anything you’d like.
The Mustang Alpha, created by Consolidated Outland CEO Silas Koerner is entirely focused on speed and agility it has very similar qualities to the Aurora MR however, the minor details make the difference. It sacrifies a little bit of cargo capacity and weaponry to be able to out maneuver other ships of it’s class. This makes it possible for the Mustangs to be great racers too. Unlike the Aurora MR you can already see this ship to be a bit more dedicated.
The Mustang Commercial shows the great variety between a model of space ship. While all are the same ship, the Mustang all of the variations have different strengths. Purchasing any of these will give you a much better role in it’s field. The Alpha, starter variation of the Mustang’s is considered a fighter with cargo options. The Delta for example is the one which really carries a punch with a focus on weaponry.
Does it matter which ship you purchase? Not necessarily the ships are very similar to eachother. However, do you see yourself as a racer? as someone who jumps into a fight with another ship to avoid his attacks and react swiftly? Purchase the Mustang. Are you someone who is laid back, looks for that little bit of profit on that one item go with the Aurora
The developers of Star Citizen are already working on the third starter ship, the MISC Reliant not much is known about it. Therefore not covered in this purchase guide.
The most important part here is you’ve purchased yourself into the game. A game which grows by the month, the Arena Commander module alone is something EA or other studio would call a full game. Climb your way up on the leaderboards earn REC and try out other ships.
The game packages selected here are both with a copy of Star Citizen Digital Download and a copy of Squadron 42 Digital Download. Buying both in one ship package saves you $30.00 USD, you can also purchase a ship + Star Citizen’s Digital Download for $45.00 USD. A digital copy of Squadron 42 is $45.00 USD.
