The F7C-M Super Hornet is a formidable space ship and the UUE’s weapon of choice in the battle against the vanduul. This space ship supplies the second best hardpoints in Arena Commander 2.2 allowing any fighter pilot to create an amazing load-out for an offensive ship. The super hornet gives you the best dog fighting capabilities within the Arena Commander without a doubt. It has a quick and small turn radius, quick engine and plenty of armor and shields to take a hit. Not only can the super hornet take a hit, it delivers one of the best punches in the game. As you can see, I can’t praise the super hornet enough.
However, the F7C-M Super Hornet does have it’s flaws. The punch it delivers is lacking with it’s standard load out, the rockets it fires are weak and with the correct load out the rockets become pointless.

On the other hand, once you set up your F7C-M Super Hornet with a specific list of weapons you’ll truly have the most powerful dog fighter. The true question here is your play style. My believe is, if you fly with mouse and keyboard you’ll want too set up as many of gimbal weapons as possible. With mouse and keyboard you’ll also be able to aim better and “simply” set your mouse on your target and fire. This means single shots are quite viable and there are no better single shot weapons in Arena Commander 2.2 then the OMNISKY VI LASER CANNON. Another option would be game controller, hands on throttle-and-stick HOTAS or Joystick. Your aim in this case is not like the mouse. You’ll mostly aim where your ship is headed this is where fixed guns can shine especially since they are usually a higher S rating compared to gimbal weapons. Although since your aim will move along with every turn of your ship you want to fire in longer bursts. The laser repeaters or ballistic gatling guns come to mind in these situations. Like with the mouse my suggestion will go towards the laser repeaters, the CF-227 Panther Repeater comes to mind. We’re going to focus on the Omnisky Series in this guide. Gimbal options along with aiming by mouse will give a greater range of hitting your shots in any situation. Fixed weaponry will always be decided by the turning speeds of your guns.
The F7C-M Super Hornet will deliver the punch it deserves with a Omnisky Series Laser Cannon. The Omnisky VI is the strongest of the series it boasts increased damage and range and power consumption over its smaller brother, the Omnisky III, and utilizes many of the same components resulting in middle-of-the-road power efficiency. The best way to utilize these these weapons on the super hornet is by placing them on gimbaled mounts, while playing with mouse and keyboard. This way you are able to aim directly at your target and even shoot his vital area’s such as his propulsion.

- TurretOmnisky VI Turret
However, the Omnisky Series come with a large weakness, it will overheat quickly. It’ll work fine when you shoot your weapon, hit your target and do so in a orderly fashion. The moment decide to use your weapon as you would with a repeater then you will be in trouble real quick, you don’t want your weapon to overheat during combat. Try to learn to take care of the weapon you are using. Do not let it over heat at any given time and it’ll pay you back.
The idea behind this load out is to get as much damage done in a single hit. You’ll purchase two Omnisky III and four Omnisky VI, and mount the two Omnisky III on the nose of your hornet and the Omnisky VI on the top turret of your F7C-M Super Hornet, this can be done in the hangar of Star Citizen at the holo table. It is important to check your table before every gaming session, the game may remove your setup.
When you enter Arena Commander set up your weapon groups. The standart setup will shoot in two different groups, wings are separated from the nose and top turret weapons. This makes no sense for this set up, since your wing and top turret weapons are both Omnisky VI. I would advice to make everything including the Omnisky III the same weapon group. This gives you the maximum amount of damage on each hit however, there is one “small” downside to this set up since the Omnisky III has a bit slower speed of shots. There may be situations where the target will align with the Omnisky VI‘s and not the Omnisy III‘s when you fire in this situation you’ll waste power on unsuccessful shots. The upside is that you do not need to worry about shouting the wrong weapon and not hitting your target at all it makes it all easier.
Once you’re fully aware of which circle of the targeting system is connected to the Omnisky VI and the Omnisy III you’ll be best off using two separate groups. Assigning the Omnisky VI to one group and Omnisy III to the other this will give you the ability to choose which to shoot, leaving no room for wasted power lowering the chance of overheating.
You need to be inside your ship in the Universe or Arena Commander by pressing the Home button on your keyboard you’ll be able to use your mouse for the on board computer. The buttons F1, F2, etc will select different tabs in the on board computer. Press F2 to allocate weapons to a certain group. My advice as written above is to start with everything on group one, this fires all weapons when clicking your Left Mouse Button.
The following step is to allocate the power supply via the button F3 you’ll want to allocate your power towards Group 1. this way you’ll rarely find a moment of over heating and increase the damage done by your weapons.
