My name is WilliamWallace, and I have applied to Serenity Corporation to be a part of your Industry department. While I am concerned about the fiscal earnings attributed to Industry, my main focus will be on diplomatic relations concerning Diplomacy. I plan to be a direct link to Interstellar Diplomacy as a method for mediation or conflict resolution.
I hope to acquire diplomatic immunity, so that I can use this feature to benefit the Corporation.
I enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of this corporation, and want it to be one of my main relationships in game. It is worthwhile to note that Serenity will not be listed as my main organization. In order to have stronger diplomatic ties, I will be focusing with Diplomacy as my main org.
What issues do you expect to revolve around industry? How do you feel diplomacy can help Serenity?
In effort of full disclosure, I want to also include the other organizations that I have relationships with, and the nature of that relationship.
Interstellar Diplomacy (Main Organization) – currently ranked as a Mediation Envoy, with plans to work to promotion of an Ambassador
TRG (Affiliate Organization) -currently ranked Full Member – will participate with TRG more after they join closer to launch – as a long standing member of TRG (starting in 2009) I plan to be a direct link between them and other organizations. Most likely to become my main, if I ever leave Interstellar Diplomacy.
Cognition Corp – (Affiliate Organization) – Casual Member with plans to progress to higher rank – An Alliance group through Interstellar Diplomacy – I plan to build relationships with many smaller corporations through this alliance.
Xplor! Corp – (Affiliate Organization) – Sgt Member – With a strong focus on exploring the universe, I have started building a reputation with Xplor!
Test Squadron – (Affiliate Organization) – As a link to the Star Citizen community, I have started building a relationship with the famed Test Squadron.
These are the only relationships that I am building at this time. I hope that Serenity can see how these sort of diplomatic relations would be beneficial for the corporation.
I like your honesty and straight forward approach. We definitely see the value of diplomatic relations. However, in our experience we have had a lot of requests for joint ventures and collaboration, which were in our eyes more roleplay than actual play. Therefore, we are a bit more cautious and will await the full game before we fully commit to diplomatic relations. This does not mean that we avoid talking to other organisations all together, we like hearing other opinions and organisations.
Since there’s so little known about the actual functionality of it all or the actual position of organisations completely it’s hard too say where Diplomacy will rank.
I believe Industries issues may be things such as allowance of travel through star systems owned by certain organisations, payment of taxes and the overall import / export of products between organisations.
One can go for full on diplomacy in terms of alliances however that’s something we’ll move away from until it’s very clear on how well the organisation will do.
A great example of that in another MMO is WoW Legion, the weeks before the launch of legion I recruited players to Serenity, told them we’d aim for Mythic type content (highest difficulty) along with other things.
Ofcourse this wasn’t promoted by me alone many other guilds in the game did the same. WoW has 3 difficulties of 20+ player content, Normal Heroic Mythic. Several guilds who promised Mythic along side us only done Normal so far. (3 weeks into raid content release) While we’re stepping inside Mythic a week behind the World’s top guilds and cleared Heroic content already.
What I want too say with that is promises of organisations will mean nothing until the leadership of those organisations have proven themselves in the actual game.
Right now there’s a lot of great idea’s floating around with sharing trade routes or even stopping trade routes. But that type of stuff isn’t in the game yet so we don’t know if it’ll work that way.
On top of that some organisations may promise to take over a certain area of space and control it.
I hear the same concerns from both of your replies. I understand that it is difficult to start diplomatic relations, when situations in the game may change drastically. I want to assure you that I am not start any relations on your behalf. I “am” the relations.
It is during this time, that my only task is to participate with the organizations that I want to include, to build relationships that are based on more than just “diplomacy”. It is through learning about each organization, I will be able to gauge their desires and playstyles better in the future.
Just as there is need for each guild to prove themselves in their gameplay (described in the Mythic example), I also think that each Diplomat brings specific skills and knowledge to the table. It is with this knowledge, and with tactics that the Diplomat must show himself to be a valuable asset. This is my focus, until the Diplomatic events get a little more flushed out in game.
I hope this helps to understand my focus and direction that I am taking my gameplay
